Biography

Katie Moran

I live in the Mt. Washington area of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  I graduated from University of Pittsburgh in 2006 with a Bachelors of Arts in Studio Arts and Environmental Studies.   I have experience in oil paint, acrylic, graphite, and mixed sculpture media.  My primary medium is oil and my subjects are often still life’s and people.  I like to emphasize color, value, feeling, detail and balance in my work.  My goal is to continue painting real subjects, a series of abstract pieces based on personal dreamscapes, and nature inspired works.

On a personal level, creating art is an outlet and a place for me to express myself.  It is also serves a way for me to connect to the universe and see the grander scheme in the process of life. I also create and sell jewelry that is made out of glass beads, wood, silver, and gold. I have shown my work at the University of Pittsburgh, Panza Gallery, Art Form Gallery, Art All Night and Most Wanted Fine Art.
